All fruits consumed in Iceland is shipped via airplanes as it takes short time. Shippeing by airplanes is bad for environment.
Drains water
To produce fruits we need a lot of water. Warmer countries have less water than Iceland where we have it in abundance.
Poisoned to last longer
It is long time from harvested until fruits are on in the shop. For it to last long enough they need to be sprayed with poison.
Possible in Iceland
There is geothermal heated water & 100% renewable energy. We just need to make the initial investment of building greenhouses.
